MCC Program Retained in Federal Tax Reform

Good news! Under the tax legislation just signed into law, the Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program will not be eliminated after December 31, 2017.

This means there will be no changes to the existing program. The Washington State Housing Finance Commission will be able to reissue any existing MCCs for homeowners who refinance their homes after Dec. 31, 2017, with no interruption in service.

Please share the news with your borrowers who hold Mortgage Credit Certificates (MCCs) and who you previously contacted after our November warning. Borrowers with MCCs who recently refinanced or who plan to refinance in 2018 can now rely on their MCCs being reissued.

Thanks for your attention to this matter both in November and today. We felt it was important to be proactive and protect borrowers, as there was a very real danger of the program being eliminated. Fortunately, additional steps will not be necessary and this important program will continue.

For more information, see our MCC Reissuance page.

If you have questions, please email Corinna.Obar@wshfc.org.

Thank you for your assistance in spreading the word!
