GUIDANCE FOR OWNERS WISHING TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY HOUSING TO VICTIMS OF FEDERALLY-DECLARED DISASTER AREAS

WSHFC has issued a waiver that allows victims of federally-declared disaster areas to quickly access emergency housing.  While the original notice specifically addressed Hurricane Harvey only, additional disaster areas have been declared since that date.  Owners and managers may rely on the original notice to cover all presidentially-declared disaster areas after that date.  We have provided a list of covered disaster areas, the dates of their federal disaster status declaration, and the dates on which the temporary housing waiver ends for that area.

Any disaster-displaced households who earn less than 60% of area median income can skip several time-consuming steps when applying for tax credit apartments.  The displaced households can remain in their temporary housing through the dates noted in the disaster list below before having to be income-qualified.
